The Game of Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the core games at any casino alongside roulette and poker, and as you would expect it features strongly at William Hill online casino. There are four different types of Blackjack that you can play.

Classic Blackjack

In the game of Blackjack, the aim of the game is make your cards add up to be closer to 21 than the dealers cards. Cards are worth their face value, whilst all face cards are worth 10 and aces are worth either 1 or 11.

If your cards are closer to 21 than the dealers, then you win! If you manage to get Blackjack (by drawing cards worth 21 in your first two cards) you will win 150% of your bet. In all other cases where you win, you will receive 100% of your bet, and if you tie with the dealer and your cards are worth 17 or more, then your bet is returned to you. If you score over 21, then you have “bust” and you lose your stake.

 

 

Blackjack Switch

Blackjack Switch is played in the same way as Classic Blackjack except that you play with two hands at the same time, and you are allowed to change your cards between each hand, allowing more strategy to be added to the game.

The main exceptions are that the Dealer will always draw if he reaches a total card value of 17, he will push on 22 (meaning that your bet is returned unless you have Blackjack) and if the Dealer draws Blackjack he will automatically show his cards and end the round. If you as a player draw Blackjack it will only pay out at 100% of your wager instead of 150% because there are more chances for Blackjack to be made using two hands and being able to switch the cards between the two.

 

 

Blackjack Surrender

The third variant of Blackjack that you can play at Will Hill is Blackjack Surrender. It plays using the usual rules of trying to beat the dealer with the value of your cards without going over 21, but you can also Surrender your hand if you think that you have no chance of winning with the first 2 cards that you are dealt . If you do this then the round finishes and you will lose half your stake.

 

 

 

Pontoon

Pontoon is the UK version of Blackjack and you can play it at William Hill Casino. Unlike Blackjack, in Pontoon there are two hands that can beat a Dealer who has cards totalling 21.

One is to draw Blackjack in the same way as the other games above. The other is to get a five card trick. This is when you manage to get five cards in your hand that add up to less than 21. Even if their value is less than the dealers you will still win.
